Michael Wexler, CEO, co-founded Maple Leaf Capital in May 2002. Prior, he was at Credit Suisse First Boston in London for four years establishing and managing the single stock derivative trading group and then as a proprietary trader focusing on global single stock volatility and global correlation trading. He began his career in currency derivatives with Citibank Toronto and London trading Canadian dollar options, Japanese Yen exotic options and Euro Dollar options for five years. Mr. Wexler graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in 1993, after winning a number of scholarships in the Actuarial Science Program.
George Castrounis, CIO, co-founder of Maple Leaf. Prior, he was at Credit Suisse First Boston in London responsible for equity derivatives trading of technology and financial sectors. Before that he was responsible for stock derivatives trading in German, Dutch, Scandinavian, Southern European, and European Emerging markets, also at Credit Suisse First Boston. He began his career with Citibank in the Financial Engineering and the Interest Rate Derivatives area in 1995 in Toronto, then New York and London in equity derivatives. Mr. Castrounis studied economics and graduated with distinction from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. Castrounis and Mr. Wexler have worked together since 1996.
Tim Rustow, portfolio manager, joined Maple Leaf Capital in August 2005. Prior, he was at DTAP Capital, a Connecticut-based global macro hedge fund, as a money manager and strategist. Preceding this he had a similar role at SAC Capital and the Falcon Family Office under Jim Leitner. He also worked as a currency strategist at Bankers Trust. Before entering financial markets, Tim was a journalist with ABC news, a campaign advisor for Rudy Guliani and a foreign policy aide in the US Congress. He has a JD from St John’s University School of Law and a BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado.
Philippe Pizzichini, portfolio manager, joined Maple Leaf in November 2005.
Damon Barber, chief operating officer, joined Maple Leaf in July 2008. As a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified accountants, he has been in the financial services industry for 10 years. Prior to joining Maple Leaf, Damon was financial controller and head of finance at Endeavor Capital. Prior to Endeavor, he was at Credit Suisse as head of UK GAAP reporting for CSFBi and led the conversion to IFRS. Prior to CSFBi, he was an auditor at PriceWaterhouse Coopers specializing in hedge funds including 18 months secondment in the Cayman Islands.
Quyen Duong, head of operations, joined Maple Leaf Capital in August 2007 after 12 years at The World Bank where she was a Finance Analyst for over $4 billion of active loans to Vietnam. Quyen holds an MBA, is a Certified Public Accountant, and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants prize winner.
